Hand It In:
The lesson is to create a writing product with correct grammar conventions .The students will work on this project the entire week. Students will receive a checklist of skills they have to meet to receive all the possible points. The students will receive remediation on setting, plot, characters, and genre. The students will be given a writing prompt. The students will brain storm together to determine the story components. The students will begin the writing process. Students will choose from a word bank to help construct the story. Students will be given a checklist with the following components: setting, plot, characters, and genre. The students will then create a draft. Students will then take draft and create final writing product. Students will edit final writing product with teacher.
Publish It:
The lesson is to create a writing product using The Amazing Word Tamer. The teacher will lead students through a tutorial of using the Word Tamer.

The students will work on this project the entire week. The students will do this assignment as a group of eight. One student will be the "driver" of the computer. This "driver" will change daily until the assignment is complete. The website address is http://www.wordtamer.co.uk/.
The ringmaster leads students in remediation on setting, plot, character, genre, and wild words. In each area the students will play a game choosing the words that they want to use in each area. The students save their choices in each area. The students take their work in each area and using Microsoft word create a writing product. Students will regard the spell and grammar check to correct mistakes. The teacher will review the final project and post on classroom website. Students then Google pictures to go with their story. 3. Project Based Learning and Student Engagement Strategies
Project Based Learning has proven to assist students with disabilities to create and publish a writing product and build self-esteem. Students have complete control over the speed at which they learn and whether to go back and have remediation repeated. Students work together to create the writing product. The students of their own accord voted on different words and areas to come to a decision. The Amazing Word Tamer keeps students engaged with games in each area. Students then used word processor which pointed out their mistakes without teacher directing their attention to it. The students will, using Voice Thread, create the final website project. This allows the students time to learn skills on the computer and using Google,Microsoft word, and Voice Thread. Students have then created and published their writing product.

The learner will apply grammar and language conventions to communicate effectively. 5.04 The learner will compose two or more paragraphs with topic sentences, supporting details, appropriate, and logical sequence.5.03 The learner will demonstrate understanding of the different kinds of sentences.

The teacher will monitor student behaviors and work. The teacher will interject only as needed. The teacher will observe each students participation to assess the students engagement level and grasp of the concepts presented. The teacher will demonstrate any concepts not know to the students about Microsoft word. The teacher will observe the students manipulation of the program. Teacher will observe students retention of tutorials. The teacher will edit the final project. I observed students manipulation of the computer as they found pictures to go with their story. Teacher will also determine if they comprehend the new concepts presented in Word Tamer and the use of Voice Thread. Students will read the story to a family member at home. The Voice Thread link will be sent home with students.The teacher will maintain a checklist on each student with these skills. As teacher observes the skill, the student will get a check. Students will receive a grade on the number of skills demonstrated. Parents will also be notified to check Ms. Nobles classroom website to see T.J.'s Adventures on line.
